Field support · Entry 001

A little help
along the way.

A place for the small questions, so you can get back to noticing, caring, and keeping the good bits.

An open field notebook with a colorful pop-up Earth, a human, and a growing plant.
You are here. We’re glad.

Your notebook, close to home.

Earthling keeps your notes, attachments, chosen activities, and profile in the app’s storage on this device. It doesn’t upload your notebook to an Earthling server.

Will my notes appear on another device?

Not automatically. Earthling doesn’t currently offer notebook sync, shared notebooks, or an Earthling cloud backup. Signing in with Apple personalizes this device; it doesn’t move your notes.

Your device may include app data in its backups, depending on your Apple settings. Manage those backups through Apple.

Where can I find a previous day?

Open Notes and choose a date in the calendar. You can switch to a list if that suits you better. Earthling remembers the view you choose on this device.

Choose a note to open or edit it. A saved note can hold more than one attachment.

Can I add more than one activity?

Yes. Open Guide, choose the day shown beside Add for, then add activities or a daily plan. They’ll appear in Today for that date.

Keep a moment, your way.

A quick line, a photo, a small sketch, a voice note. They all belong here.

How do I add a photo or use the camera?

Open a note and choose Photo to select an image, or Camera to take one. Earthling asks for camera access when you use the camera. You can cancel without adding anything.

The photo picker lets you choose the images to import without giving Earthling access to your whole library. A captured photo is kept with your note; Earthling doesn’t automatically add it to your Photos library.

Why can’t I record a voice note?

Choose Voice in a note and allow microphone access when asked. If access is off, open your device’s Settings → Apps → Earthling and check Microphone.

Recordings stay with your notebook. Earthling doesn’t transcribe them or send them to an AI service.

How do sketches work?

Choose Sketch in a note, draw something worth keeping, then save it to the note. A sketch doesn’t need camera or microphone access.

A small permission note

You can still write, sketch, and use your guide without camera or microphone access. Change permissions any time in your device’s Settings.

A gentle morning nudge.

If you choose to enable it, Earthling can remind you at 9 a.m. in your current local time zone to take care of your Earthling.

How do I turn reminders on or off?

Open Earthling’s Settings and find the morning reminder option. The first time you enable it, your device asks whether Earthling can send notifications.

To change system permission, open Settings → Notifications → Earthling. Focus modes and other system settings can silence or delay a reminder.

Does the reminder need my location?

No. The reminder uses the time zone supplied by your device. It doesn’t request location access and isn’t a remote push notification.

Make yourself at home.

Your first name, a little bio, and a photo can make this field guide feel like yours. During your welcome, you can enter your completed years on Earth. Count my years starts on; an exact birthday is optional.

Do I need to sign in with Apple?

No. You can continue on this device without an Apple sign-in. Earthling doesn’t ask you to create a password.

If you choose Apple, Earthling uses your given name when Apple provides it and keeps an Apple-issued identifier in this device’s Keychain. It doesn’t request your email address or store your Apple password.

How do I change my name, photo, bio, or birthday?

Open Profile to edit your photo, bio, or birthday. For your first name, open Settings → Name & sign-in.

Your profile shows completed years on Earth rather than your birth date. If you enter your age, Earthling saves that number and the date you entered it; it does not guess your birthday or automatically increase that age on a guessed anniversary. Add an optional birthday for automatic age calculation. Turning off Count my years on Earth hides the count without erasing the saved age or birthday. Clear the entered years or switch off the optional birthday in Profile to remove those details.

How do I disconnect Apple?

Open Settings → Name & sign-in to disconnect Apple on this device. Your local notebook stays here.

To revoke Apple’s authorization as well, manage Earthling under Sign in with Apple in your Apple Account settings. You can also visit your Apple Account.

It’s your notebook.

You can delete an individual saved note from its editor. To erase the whole local notebook, open Settings → Delete local account, review the confirmation, and choose Delete account and notebook.

Before you erase

This permanently removes your local profile, saved notes, draft, photos, sketches, voice notes, activities, and reminder settings. Earthling can’t recover them for you.

Deleting the local account also removes Earthling’s saved Apple identifier from this device. Apple authorization, App Store purchase records, existing device backups, and copies you shared elsewhere are managed separately.

Something still feel a little off?

When you contact support, include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, Earthling version, and the steps that led to the issue. Please leave private journal entries, recordings, and other sensitive details out of your message.

Let’s make it a little better.

Contact Ronald Wayne Ferree II at ronaldferree@gmail.com. A small note about what happened is a good place to start.

Email opens your chosen mail app. Earthling does not automatically attach your notebook or send a support request for you.
